“You may ask 'Why do we stay if it’s so dangerous?' Well, we stay because Anatevka is our home. And how do we keep our balance? That I can tell you in one word: Tradition!

“Tradition ... Tradition … Tradition!

Tradition! Tradition! Tradition!

The Papa … The Papa Tradition,

The Mama … The Mama Tradition

The Daughter …The Daughter Tradition!”

Arts Center (NJPAC)

Final Performance March 15, 2009

Without a doubt, NJ PAC presented a must-see event. The classic story about the Russian village of Anatevka, with Topol, the original main character, Tevye, from the motion picture, in his Farewell Tour  It showcased incredible emotion, singing, and comedy, plus the unique feeling that the entire audience just wanted to stand up and sing along, the "altogether" feeling.  Fiddler, based on the Shalom Aleichem story Tevye's Daughters is one of the greatest shows I've ever seen.  Topol at seventy-five is still a work of art in himself and stole the show, though  the other actors had their moments.  Definitely something to tell your friends about.

Visitors to NJPAC enter through a soaring atrium lobby, with floor to ceiling glass and warm, wood paneled walls.  The main theater, grand and expansive, is illuminated by a large geometric chandelier that retracts up to the ceiling as the curtain rises. Patrons of a certain age will be reminded of the gilded theaters of Newark's grander yesterdays.
